DIANA “LEDANIA” ORDONEZ
BOGOTA / COLOMBIA
One of the most prominent artists of the Latin American graffiti scene, Bogota based Diana Ordonez, known as LEDANIA, celebrates color and nature in scenes populated by imaginary creatures. Her work, which conveys positivity and the impression of constant movement and freedom, has developed into a recognizable visual language. The improvised worlds she creates are magical and mystical, linked to expressionism, cubism, and surrealism.
Classically trained, LEDANIA earned a master’s degree in Visual and Plastic Arts at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. She is a multimedia artist who expresses her creativity through street art, photography, graphic design, advertising, artistic makeup, as well as in the implementation of her themes and motifs into clothing and accessories. The etymology of her pseudonym derives from Greek mythology character Leda, who was seduced by Zeus, in combination with her name Diana. She wrote it for the first time when she was fifteen and has used it since as a signature for all her work.
LEDANIA graffiti art murals are scattered across 22 countries, from Colombia to the United States, Spain to Japan. Her art has been featured at several international exhibitions, such as the Curitiba Biennial in Brazil, Art Expo Malaysia, Bozman University, Art Scape, and the Artscape Festival in Sweden. She was also named one of the 100 national leaders in Latino América by the magazine Gerente.
