JOHNNY ROBLES
MIAMI / UNITED STATES
Johnny Robles is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Miami, Florida. With a practice that varies in both material and process, Robles creates works of art that include drawing, painting, sculpture, design and installation. His work is heavily shaped by an exploration in color theory, geometry, scientific principles and natural systems interwoven with spiritual inquiry—forming the foundational themes that drive his artistic vision.
In recent years, Robles has integrated his work with architecture, which has resulted in new meaning for his work through shifts in perception, scale, and imagery. For each project, he employs a variety of techniques that are synchronized with the viewer's attention to movement and point of view in relation to the work. Robles uses a combination of tools and programs that are united by the intersection of technology, nature, and art, which allows him to explore different ways of approaching art making. Robles aims to explore psychological effects with color, materials, and techniques that embody emotive and perceptual associations, such as play, interaction, elation, and control. Choosing specific paths and parameters in his creative process allows for new discoveries and possibilities to be formed.
Robles received his BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art after studying at Studio Arts College International in Florence, Italy. His work has been featured in several group and solo exhibitions in Miami and around the world, including exhibitions at the Museum of Art & Design in New York City, the Museum of Contemporary Art in North Miami, and Galleria Del Paseo in Uruguay. He has also completed several public and private art mural commissions, including for Miami International Airport MIA Galleries, Chase Bank and Bank of America Collections. Johnny Robles currently lives and works in Miami, Florida.
